    The President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou, recently said that his administration has been working toward signing free trade deals with the United States and the European Union. Taiwan plans to pursue follow-up agreements to the bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Agreement with the U.S. and gradually work toward a free trade agreement, Ma said, in response to calls for such deals by local manufacturers.

  • Taiwan supports New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund

    Taiwan stood by the State of New Jersey and neighboring states after the devastating Hurricane Sandy swept through the region in late October of 2012. In November, the government of The Republic of China (Taiwan) announced $1.3 million in relief and reconstruction aid to the United States, providing a much needed relief effort in a time of need. Taiwan was also the only government that reached out to support the State of New Jersey.
