U.S.-Taiwan Business Club 2013 Spring Networking Event

The keynote speaker for the Spring Networking Event was Ms. Catherine Smith, Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, State of Connecticut. Commissioner Smith visited Taiwan last September and was impressed with the robust business climate of Taiwan. She shared insights on how to do business in Connecticut and also explore the possibility of assisting Taiwan business in Connecticut to grow bilateral trade and investment.

The “Knowing Your Fellow Executives” session was well-received by the previous networking event’s attendees; therefore, two more executives were featured this time. The first one was Mr. Wen-Jin Lee, President & CEO of Yang Ming Corp. Yang Ming is a top Taiwanese company and was ranked No. 1 in global overall performance by Shipper Sentiment Survey in 2012. The second speaker was Mr. George Chen, President of G&T Trading International Corp. G&T Trading is a well-known company in the U.S. recycling industry.

More than 80 high level executives attended this spring's networking event. The event connected U.S. and Taiwan business communities in the greater New York area as it prompted follow-up meetings among attendees.
